2 (who?)
First off, this is important-our affiliate :iconsherlock-fans: is in need of active members. Please join! I'd hate to see a Sherlock group die out.

So Today is Celebrating Sherlock Holmes Day.

I've watched and read alot of Sherlock Holmes. (Which is only scratching the surface-Holmes is everywhere).
So today I'm linking my recommendations for what to watch and read. (Sorry for using Wikipedia for info...) (all links are from YouTube)
If you know of any others, or have any comments or questions, comment!

Jeremy Brett. 'Granada Sherlock Holmes'…
Known as the definitive Sherlock Holmes. Brett had done most of the Sherlock Holmes stories before he died. He was truly brilliant. I direct your attention to his first episode, A Scandal in Bohemia.…

He made quite a few films under the name Sherlock Holmes. However, he grew to hate his character, and his Watson (Nigel Bruce) was an idiot. However, his films brought the detective to modern day, which was what inspired our men Moffat and Gatiss. His first film was 'Adventures of Sherlock Holmes'-Here's Part 1.…

Nicholas Rowe. 'Young Sherlock Holmes'.…
Bits of this film are strange. But on the whole, it is a very fun movie, speculating about Holmes beginnings. Rowe's Watson is really unneeded, as is the love interest, but overall, a fantastic film. Part one is here.…

Richard Roxburg 'Hound of the Baskervilles'…
Slightly unknown Holmes. But interesting. This adaptation was more modern, the friendship between Holmes and Watson more strained. Part 1 is here.…

Rupert Everett 'The Case of the Silk Stocking'…
Another more modern Holmes. Everett is actually quite good. You'll notice this is the same Watson as The 'Hound' above. Definitely worth the watch. The film is here.…

Peter Cushing. 'Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes'
Really good BBC Series. Watson is a bit smarter than the average Watson. Cushing makes a great Holmes, but and older one. Part one of 'the blue Carbuncle' is here.…

Ronald Howard. 'Sherlock Holmes'…
One of the lesser known, but definitely one of the best Holmes ever. Ronald Howard and Marion Crawford were Holmes and Watson for a TV series. The cases are lighter than the horrifying ones we are used to, but the spirit and friendship between these two is fantastic. This first episode, 'the cunningham heritage' is the first of only two adaptations of Holmes to film the famed meeting between Holmes and Watson. The other? Our favourite 'Sherlcok'. Heritage is here.…

Matt Frewer. Three Hallmark Movies…
Known as possibly one of the worst Holmes. But definitely worth a watch. He wasn't horrible, just a bit odd. Here's a scene from Hound of the Baskervilles.…

'The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes'
It's a fun film at times. Delves into Sherlock's personal life, which isnt always a good thing. But a good film, especially for Christopher Lee as Mycroft Holmes. Here's a part of the film.…

Gene Wilder 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes's Smarter Brother'…
Wilder stars as Sigerson. This just BRILLIANT if you like that sort of humour. Holmesians will recogise names... Definitely worth the watch, so much fun...(and If you end up hating it, I'm sorry). Part 1 is here.…

'The Great Mouse Detective'
...Which sadly is not You Tube. Based on the children's series by eve titus, basil is the mouse world's version of Sherlock Holmes. This film is brilliant-definitely go and see it if you have't.

Thank you so much for posting this! As a fairly new Sherlockian I've only seen the American films and BBC adaptation - something I intended to remedy very quickly with the aid of this list. :D

May I offer you some advice?
Watch Jeremy Brett first.
Then do Ronald Howard. (Search it and find the order...and I think they're all on YouTube)
And Great mouse detective and Young Sherlock Holmes are good anytime after Brett....

And I couldn't find it on YouTube, but Hammer Horror did a HOUND interpretation, with Cushing and Lee, and that is worth a watch. But definitely do Brett frist!

Again, if you need any movies, I've seen nearly all of them, abd most of them are on Youtube

Good list! But here are some other adaptations:

Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd century: Epsiode 1 [link] A cartoon series where Holmes is frozen and wakes up in the 22nd century. It's quite weird but also sort of fun. Watson is a robot, Lestrade a female cop and Moriarty is a clone.

Murder Rooms: Episode 1 [link] A dark and unnoticed show. It's about Conan Doyle and how he meets his mentor Dr Bell and how they solve gruesome cases. Ian Richardson is brilliant as Dr Bell.

Sherlock Hound. A short anime series about a fox who is called Holmes. Made by the fantastic director Hayao Miyazaki who also made Spirited Away and My neighbour Totoro.

Russian Holmes. One of my favourites. A russian series with the great Vasily Livanov as Holmes and Vitaly Solomin as Watson. One of the only adaptations to include the first meeting between the two characters.

Sherlock Holmes and The Asylum: Part 1 [link] A horrible film where Holmes is up against aliens, robots and dinosaurs. But still a must see for a true Holmes fan.

And here's a hilarious let's play by the fabulous Mst3kforever on youtube. He's played all of the pc Holmes games so far and it's so funny to watch. Especially when he's stuck on a puzzle and tries desperately to solve it.
Games: Sherlock Holmes and the Mummy Part 1 [link] Sherlock Holmes and The Awakened Part 1 [link] Sherlock Holmes Nemesis Part 1 [link] Sherlock Holmes VS Jack the Ripper Part 1 [link]

Hope you like it! And if you want to know more, just ask me XD

(I wasn't aware that Russian Sherlock had the meeting DAVID STUART DAVIS LIES)

But yes, I was getting to a few of these (it was taking time to find a bunch of links ^^' so I took a break.) But thanks for posting!
